About Chief
A litter of pups is born and you love them all and you take care of them as if each and every one will go on to Best In Show at Westminster. With every litter you wish you could keep them all, but in the real world that is not possible. Eventually we have to start making decisions as to what pups will go to which new family and a select few to new show homes. As a breeder your hope is that with each litter you get that one pup that when you look at him or her you get those chills that run up and down your spine. Well, when I bred our girl Ebby to, who in my opinion will go down as one of the Greatest sires our breed has ever known, the great Ingebar’s Uri Gellar I had these hopes.

A lot of people ask me how I come up with names for our litters. I really have no scientific way of coming up with names. I just pick things that I have either liked or admired in my life. Coming up with the name Khochise for a 9 week old puppy I had know idea of the significance. Having been on the road for many years, every single weekend I have yet to find a dog with the heart of a warrior like Chief. Chief’s personality (much like his mother’s) lit up the show ring! Much of the time looking like a chiseled statue with a cold stare daring any dog to step up and try and beat us. Out of the ring Chief is care free and could spend hours chasing down a frisbee making it his personal challenge no matter how far I throw it for it not to let it hit the ground.

Chief, taking after his father, has proven to be an awesome sire. He has produced several pups that have gone on to big wins at Giant Schnauzer Club of America specialties and Working Group wins. His most recent accomplishment is Ch. Tanglewood's Sweetness, “Payton”, who at 18 months of age, became an all breed Best In Show winner… as a class dog!!

Chief’s magnificent career could not have been possible with out the help of his owners the Paul Mihailides family. Having taking me in and making me feel like I was part of their family, I will forever be grateful for the opportunity they afforded me with Chief. He truly is a once in a lifetime dog.
